LE TOUR CYCLISTE
H. Grangier/Sannier-Tournoud/Motobécane, France, 1979
This is a game issued by Cycles Motobecane in 1979 as a souvenir of the "assemblée générale ordinaire des actionnaires". I assume it was offered to Motobécane shareholders who attended to meeting, along with an eight-page booklet featuring vintage cycling images. I do not know how many copies were printed, but I guess most of them were either given away to kids who destroyed them by use (the game is not really meant to last) or simply forgotten in a drawer. This makes the game quite hard to find nowadays.
The open board measures (almost) 70 x 30 cm
Unfortunately, one of the riders is missing from my copy. No big deal, anyway.
As long as the game was not self-contained anyway (you had to provide your own die), it would have been better if you were instructed to provide your own counters too, since the riders are too big (and probably too unstable) to be used on this board.
Of course it is a roll-and-move game (one in which players do not have any strategic choice), but the starting rule is quite unusual. Players cannot start the race as long as they have not rolled 1, 3, 5, and 6, in that order, to "get their equipment". You would then expect the riders to be handed the equipment (jersey, pants, bottle, and finally bicycle), as it looks like the squares with these parts can be cut up, and there is no other use for them. You might even expect the equipment (at least the bottle) to be used in some race incidents, as, say, in games like Wheeling or Cycling. But none of this is mentioned in the rules.

Ouch!
