CYCLING BOARD GAMES
COLLECTORS' GAME

When three years ago I received an email from one Siegfried L with comments on some of the games featured on this site, little did I suspect that it would turn into such a fruitful collaboration. Siegfried has not only submitted many more comments about many more games (a number of which I have included on the site, his masterpiece -so far- being his research on the game 3-2-1-Start), but now he has created a little print-and-play memory game to include as a present for the visitors of this website.

Like myself, Siegfried prefers not to be credited by his name but by his website; that is why the game says "pictures from cyclingboardgames.net / designed by mondogranfondo.de". As its name implies, his website is dedicated to Granfondos. In case you are not familiar with the term, I quote:

'In Italian, "fondo" refers to a long-distance run, a term also used in cross-country skiing. In Italian cycling, a Granfondo is an event typically between 120 and 170 km long; anything longer would be called an "Audax." However, there are exceptions: The long-distance Nove Colli, the original Granfondo, covers 205 km. Mass starts and timing are standard, and roads are often closed to other traffic (at least for those not too far behind the lead group).'

All this and much more, including more comments on cycling games, on his website. It is in German, but you know how to use online translators, don't you? That's how I have quoted from Siegfried. If I can do it, surely you can too.

The game consists of 66 images (33 pairs) belonging to 16 different games, covering the whole range of vintage games up to "Homas Tour". Some games are represented by three different pairs of tiles: box, board, and cyclists, but not all are.

Of course, this is not a racing game, but rather a divertimento for fans of this website, which we hope you enjoy. By the way, if you are a very attentive observer, you may discover that two or three of the pictures have not been taken from this website. If you feel like trying to discover which, you have a game within a game!

Thanks, Siegfried, for making this game!
